Our Approach
Experience That Matters
Our leadership team has worked across leading corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, and international consulting firms. This breadth of experience means we bring perspectives that span the full business lifecycle, from strategy and operations to financial management and digital transformation. When we advise a client, we draw on real-world experience of how organizations, regulators, and markets actually behave, not just theoretical frameworks. That practical knowledge significantly improves the quality of our recommendations and the predictability of our results.
Our Commitment
A Team Built for Emerging Markets
Most of our consultants have worked in or directly with the markets we serve. This is not incidental - we have deliberately recruited people with direct Kenyan and East African market experience, because local knowledge, language capability, and cultural competence are genuine competitive advantages in our business. They allow us to design solutions that actually fit the market, conduct better diagnostics, and maintain effective relationships with the government counterparts, business leaders, and institutions central to so many of our engagements.
Advisory Board
Senior Advisers
Independent Governance
Our advisory board includes senior practitioners drawn from international banking, law, and public policy. They provide independent counsel on governance, regulatory matters, and strategic direction, and they participate actively in our annual review process.
Sector Expertise
Advisory board members are selected for their specific expertise in sectors core to our client base. Their sector knowledge is made available to our consulting teams during engagement planning and to our clients directly where relevant.
Institutional Credibility
Our advisory board members bring relationships with leading institutions, development partners, and regulatory bodies that enhance our institutional credibility and support our ability to deliver complex, cross-border engagements.
Our Team Philosophy
Building a Team That Delivers
We believe that the quality of a consulting firm is ultimately a function of the quality of its people, not its methodology, its brand, or its process. Process and brand matter, but they are built by people, and they are only as good as the judgement, integrity, and skill of the people who operate them. This conviction shapes how we recruit, how we develop our team, and how we decide who leads each engagement and represents us with clients.
Our team is intentionally small. We do not chase engagement volume by adding capacity without careful attention to quality. Every consultant we hire is expected to contribute meaningfully to engagement quality, not just capacity. This means we grow slowly, invest heavily in the development of each team member, and maintain a culture where quality is genuinely valued over speed. Clients who work with us notice the difference - they deal with the same experienced consultants throughout an engagement, rather than being handed between teams.
Intellectual curiosity is a quality we look for in every team member. Consulting work requires constant learning - about new sectors, new markets, new regulatory frameworks, and new technologies. The team members who thrive at Invicta are those genuinely interested in the world, who read widely and think deeply, and who bring intellectual energy to each new engagement. This curiosity is what allows us to stay ahead of market developments, identify opportunities less curious competitors miss, and provide clients with analysis that goes beyond the obvious.
Professional Development
Investing in Our People
We invest in the professional development of every team member, supporting them in obtaining qualifications that enhance both their individual capability and the quality of our work for clients. We fund relevant professional qualifications including project management, financial, and sector-specific certifications, and we provide study leave to team members working towards these qualifications. We believe that a more knowledgeable team produces better outcomes for clients, and that investment in professional development is one of the most effective investments a consulting firm can make.
Mentoring is central to how we develop junior professionals. Every new team member is assigned a senior mentor from outside their immediate deal team, someone who can provide objective guidance on career development, professional conduct, and long-term trajectory without the dynamics of direct line management. Mentoring conversations are confidential and occur at least quarterly. We have found that team members with strong mentoring relationships develop faster and stay with us longer than those without this support.
We conduct formal performance reviews twice annually, with an interim check-in mid-year and a comprehensive review at year end. Reviews assess performance against both quantitative targets and qualitative criteria including teamwork, professional development, client feedback, and contribution to our culture. We link compensation decisions directly to review outcomes, ensuring that performance has a meaningful impact on remuneration and that exceptional performers are recognised and rewarded accordingly.
We encourage our team members to develop external visibility through writing, speaking, and contributing to professional networks. Team members who publish research, present at conferences, or contribute to industry bodies bring external perspectives back to our team and build the firm's reputation in markets and sectors that matter to our business. We support this external engagement as a genuine priority, not as an afterthought to internal work commitments.
