The Problem
A boarding school campus was running on a diesel generator for a limited number of hours a day, constraining evening study time and refrigeration for the kitchen.
The Design
A campus-wide mini-grid connecting dormitories, classrooms, staff housing and the kitchen to a shared solar and battery installation, replacing the generator as primary supply.
Community Engagement
School administration and staff were consulted on load priorities, ensuring the design protects power for study halls and refrigeration first if the system is ever under strain.
The Reality
Installation is underway, with the array and battery bank on site; full commissioning is expected to extend evening study hours and remove the recurring diesel fuel budget line.
